How Anatomy made check-in effortless for every member

A premium, multi-location fitness brand moved check-in out of its app and into a branded wallet pass — live in every club, with a 98.7% member usage rate and no pass-sharing fraud.

Customer story · Multi-location health clubs · Apple Wallet & Google Wallet

Anatomy is a premium fitness brand where the details are the product. The equipment, the design, the service — all of it is considered. But the very first moment of every visit, checking in at the front door, asked members to do the one thing a great experience shouldn't: work for it.

Members checked in through the club's app. That meant unlocking the phone, finding the app, waiting for it to open, and pulling up a barcode — every single visit. It worked, but it was friction at the exact moment members should feel welcomed, and every extra tap was a small line at the front desk.

What Anatomy did

Anatomy moved check-in into a wallet-native membership pass, branded to Anatomy, that lives in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet. Members add it once and it's simply there: on the iPhone, on the Apple Watch, on Android, on Wear OS. No app to open, no barcode to load. They tap or scan and they're in — often without even unlocking the phone.

Crucially, Anatomy didn't have to change the system it already runs on. VRSE Pass connects to the club's existing member management platform, so a pass issues when someone joins, updates the instant something changes, and expires when a membership lapses — automatically, across every location.

What changed

"VRSE Pass took our check-in from a fumble to a tap. Members add their pass once and it's just there in Apple Wallet, no app to open, no barcode to hunt for. It's the kind of small thing our members notice immediately and never think about again."

— Lia, Anatomy

The return showed up fast — in the member experience and on the operations side alike.

"We wanted a membership credential that worked the way our members already move through the world. VRSE Pass gave us that without touching our existing system. Setup was measured in days, not quarters, and front-desk friction dropped noticeably. For what it costs, it's one of the highest-return pieces of technology we've added."

— Anatomy

"Anatomy is built on details, and the front door is one of them. VRSE Pass gave us a membership pass that looks and feels like our brand instead of a generic barcode. It's live in every club, it updates instantly when something changes, and it's made the arrival experience feel as considered as everything else we do."

Frequently asked questions

Does the wallet pass work on both iPhone and Android?
Yes. Members add the pass to Apple Wallet on iPhone and Apple Watch, or to Google Wallet on Android and Wear OS. The tap-or-scan check-in works the same on either platform.
Did Anatomy have to replace its existing software?
No. VRSE Pass runs on top of the club management system Anatomy already uses, so passes issue, update, and expire in step with their existing member records — no rip-and-replace.
Can a pass be shared or copied to get someone else in?
No. Each pass is tied to the member's own device and can only be read from that device, so a screenshot or forwarded copy won't grant access. Anatomy has seen no pass-sharing fraud since rolling it out.
How long did it take to go live?
Setup was measured in days, not quarters. The pass is now live across every Anatomy club and updates instantly when a membership changes.
